Indian whisky producer Amrut Distilleries has released its 50th single malt expression in an exclusive collaboration with the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center. The new whisky was crafted specifically for the hotel’s signature Indian fine-dining restaurant, Zarf.
This partnership marks the first time a single malt whisky has been created exclusively for a restaurant in India.
The bespoke expression is distilled from Indian six-row barley. It was matured for over six years in a carefully selected refill virgin American oak cask.
The whisky was designed to complement Zarf’s culinary philosophy, which reinterprets flavors from “forgotten India” for a modern audience. Amrut is widely regarded as a pioneer in the Indian single malt category, having first gained international acclaim with its launch in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2004.
Sanjay Gupta, multi-property general manager at the hotel, said: “This collaboration with Amrut, a respected Indian family run brand reflects our strategic focus on innovation through one-of-a-kind partnerships where cuisine, craft, and culture come together to create experiences that are truly distinctive and destination-defining.”
“Zarf continues to evolve as a space where Indian heritage is expressed in a modern, globally relevant way,” Gupta added.

The launch event at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel featured a menu curated to pair with the whisky’s character. These dishes included Peshawari Namak Mandi lamb chops, lamb galouti kebab finished with saffron warqi, and a stoneware-cooked Dal-e-Zarf with yellow moong lentils and desi ghee.
Rakshit N. Jagdale, managing director of Amrut Distillery, commented on Amrut’s milestone and the event at Zarf. “Releasing our 50th single malt in collaboration with Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield and Zarf marks a truly meaningful milestone for us.”
He continued: “I am especially pleased that for our first private label in India, we have partnered with an esteemed institution like Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, for their bespoke restaurant, Zarf.”
According to official notes from the brand, the whisky has a “golden honey” color. The nose presents notes of “vanilla cream,” “roasted coffee,” and “choco chip muffins.”
The palate offers “fruit marmalade” and a “velvety” texture with a “mild citrus tone.” It concludes with a “stunning passion fruit finish with a touch of sweetness and is pretty long.”
