Kentucky bourbon brand Green River has unveiled the Bullsh!t Refund, a campaign giving sports fans $20 back on overpriced live-event costs such as tickets, parking and concessions. Running from 6 to 20 November 2026, the program is open to eligible fans across the US and does not require any purchase of Green River bourbon.

To take part, fans submit a receipt showing at least $20 in qualifying live-event purchases at greenriverwhiskey.com/bsrefund. Approved participants receive their refund via Venmo.

The Owensboro-based distillery frames the initiative as a response to rising costs for sports fans. According to the brand, admission prices for sporting events climbed 123% between 2000 and 2025, outpacing the 87% rise in overall consumer prices during the same period — a figure it attributes to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Fans already have enough to yell about without the price of parking making the list,” said Chuck Change, brand spokesperson for Green River. “We make damn good bourbon at an honest price. Helping with the rest of game day felt overdue. We can’t fix a bad call on the field, but we can put a little money back in your pocket.”

The process involves three steps. Fans upload a qualifying receipt, receive a “Bullsh!t Audit” through the brand’s “Bullsh!t Detector” tool, and then collect their $20 refund through Venmo if approved.

Notably, the program extends beyond American football to include eligible expenses from other live events.

The campaign follows the release of a Green River tailgate song and music video, building on the brand’s positioning as “the Bourbon Without the Bullsh!t.”

Change indicated further activity is planned. “The Bullsh!t Refund is only the beginning,” he said. “As tailgate season continues, fans can expect even more from the Green River playbook, taking the bullsh!t out of game day.”

The brand confirmed one refund is available per person while funds remain, and that alcohol and other excluded items do not count toward the $20 minimum.

Green River Distilling Co traces its roots to 1885 and is among Kentucky’s historic bourbon producers, having relaunched its flagship brand in recent years.
