The Last Drop Distillers has released Release No. 43: The Last Drop 22 Year Old Barbados Rum, its first rum Signature Creation and the oldest rum ever released by Foursquare Distillery. The expression was created by Foursquare owner and distiller Richard Seale, a founding member of The Last Drop Assembly, and was bottled by hand at Foursquare in St. Philip, Barbados, in April 2026.

The release unites one of rum’s most revered producers with The Last Drop’s focus on exceptional aged spirits.

Since its inception, The Last Drop has selected its spirits by a balance of age, character and vitality. Each release must stand on the quality of the liquid itself.

Release No. 43 marks a new chapter for The Last Drop Assembly, the collective of leading spirits makers established to champion collaboration and innovation across the global spirits landscape. A fourth-generation rum producer, Seale has helped establish Foursquare as a global benchmark for authentic Barbados rum.

Seale said he had the 2004 blend in mind for The Last Drop from his earliest involvement with the Assembly. “It was a rum we believed would reward time, moving through a second ex-bourbon cask before a final three years in very old Port pipes. By 2025, it had become something exceptional,” he said.

The rum reflects Foursquare’s approach to maturation. “The Assembly is about bringing individual makers’ perspectives into The Last Drop, and for me that meant sharing a rum that reflects how we think about maturation at Foursquare: deliberately, patiently and with the cask always serving the spirit,” Seale added.

READ THE STORY

Foursquare sits on a historic estate in St. Philip, Barbados, with centuries of sugar, molasses and rum-making history. Under Seale’s stewardship, traditional methods have been paired with modern precision, including adapting the classic double-retort pot still to operate under vacuum.

Kizito Owusu-Sarfo, brand director of world aged spirits, praised the collaboration. “Richard represents exactly what we hoped The Assembly would make possible: giving great spirits makers the freedom to create something singular, regardless of category,” he said.

He added: “For collectors, it is exactly what The Last Drop should represent: extraordinary liquid, true provenance and a story that could only come from the maker behind it.”

According to the official notes from the brand, the deep mahogany rum opens with marzipan, grapefruit zest, ripe plum and guava, with the palate moving through dried mint, pineapple, treacle and baking spice before a finish of dry tobacco leaf and clove.

Bottled at 106 proof (53.0% ABV), Release No. 43 is limited to 566 bottles worldwide. Each 700ml bottle is individually numbered, signed by Seale and presented in a handcrafted wooden case with a certificate of bottling, a 50ml miniature and a tasting book.

The rum will be distributed through Sazerac’s US and global networks from October 2026 at a suggested retail price of $1,700 (£1,270 / ₹150,500), with local taxes and fees applying. A limited supply will also be available through Legacy de Forge, a global platform powered by Blockbar.
