The Dalmore has launched The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years, a new limited-edition Highland single malt bottled at 51% ABV. The release will be available exclusively via The Dalmore website from November 2, for an RRP of £90 ($120 / ₹10,000) in selected markets, including the UK.

The expression takes its name from its strength. The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years has been bottled at 51% ABV, equivalent to 102 proof.

According to the brand, the higher strength is intentional. “The higher ABV of this expression amplifies the layers of texture, complexity and structure, by design,” the company said.

READ THE STORY

Rather than reworking its existing 12-year-old, the distillery created a new recipe. It features a new cask composition that differs from the distillery’s standard 12-year-old expression, which is bottled at 40% ABV.

The maturation follows a multi-stage process. The release was initially matured for ten years in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels before being divided between Oloroso Sherry casks and bespoke casks created exclusively for The Dalmore by its long-standing partner, González Byass.

The brand added detail on the bespoke casks. These casks are a unique assemblage of classic and aged Oloroso, with sweet Pedro Ximénez blended to complement and enrich the house style.

According to the official notes from the brand, the whisky offers aromas of candied citrus, sun-dried raisins, treacle toffee and warming oak spice, while the palate reveals notes of forest berries, Seville orange marmalade, fruit cake and dark chocolate, alongside a hint of sweet liquorice.

The finish carries notes of dried fruit, freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate truffle, the brand said.

The distillery positioned the whisky as versatile, suited to being served neat, with water or ice, or in a spirit-forward cocktail.

The Dalmore’s 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem features on the bottle and the accompanying box, which is presented in a rich berry color. Members of The Dalmore Guild will receive early access, the brand confirmed.

The release extends a storied portfolio. The Dalmore distillery is located in Alness, Scotland, 20 miles north of Inverness, and was established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson before being sold to Andrew and Charles Mackenzie in 1867, who introduced the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem.

The distillery is operated by Whyte & Mackay, which Philippines-based Alliance Global owns.
