Rosebank, the revived Lowland distillery, is positioning its award-winning Legacy Trilogy as a festive gift this Christmas, led by its 31 Year Old expression. The trilogy comprises three whiskies drawn from casks filled between 1989 and 1993, the final years before the original distillery fell silent.
The collection’s hero is the Rosebank 31 Year Old. The expression was awarded ‘Best in Show – Whisk(e)y’ at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, officially recognizing it as the world’s best whisky at that award where it earned a double-gold medal with a score of 99 points, the highest of the year.
The whisky swept its categories to take Best Single Malt Scotch (20 Years & Older), Best Single Malt Scotch overall, Best Scotch overall and ultimately Best in Show Whisk(e)y of the whole competition.

READ THE STORY“This award is a tremendous moment for everyone connected to Rosebank,” said Neil Bulloch, Rosebank distillery manager. “Our responsibility now is to carry that character forward as Rosebank enters a new chapter.”
Matured in a combination of refill sherry butts and refill bourbon hogsheads, the official notes from the brand cite citrus, lemongrass and coriander seed on the nose, opening onto camomile, leather, berry and banana bread, before a finish of peach, oak and herbal notes. The 31-year-old carries a recommended retail price of £1,800 (US$2,268)
Completing the trio is the Rosebank 30 Year Old, a 1990 vintage priced at £1,600 (US$2,016), and the Rosebank 32 Year Old at £2,100 (US$2,646). The 32 Year Old was also a double-gold, 99-point winner at San Francisco 2025.
The bottles are available as a set or individually through stockists including Berry Bros. & Rudd, The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Selfridges.
Once hailed as “the King of the Lowlands,” Rosebank closed in 1993 and its remaining stock became some of the most sought-after in the world. Ian Macleod Distillers acquired the distillery, brand and stock from Diageo in 2017, with production resuming in July 2023.
Leonard Russell, chairman and owner of Ian Macleod Distillers, added: “Restoring Rosebank was a commitment to one of Scotland’s most admired whisky styles.”
Rosebank is distinguished by its triple distillation and use of traditional worm tub condensers, making it the only Lowland distillery to combine both.
Beyond the drams, the distillery has also become a visitor destination. Rosebank Distillery was named Whisky Tourism Destination of the Year 2025 at the Scottish Whisky Awards. Its Discover the World’s Best Whisky experience is priced at £50 (US$63), with visitor experiences bookable via the Rosebank website.
