Jack Daniel’s is bringing light and joy to the US military community through the launch of its annual ‘Barrel Tree’ sale. Profits from the sale will benefit Operation Ride Home, which helps junior-enlisted service members and their loved ones to travel home for the Christmas season.

The Barrel Trees

Jack Daniel’s Barrel Trees have been a staple of JD’s holiday celebrations since the first tree was erected in Lynchburg in 2011. The 26-foot-tall tree was built from 140 American white oak barrels which had been used to mature Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

This year, Jack Daniel’s Barrel Trees have been built in 10 different cities: Lynchburg, TN; Nashville, TN; San Antonio, TX; Tampa, FL; Washington, D.C.; New Brunswick, NJ; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; and Venice, CA.

Barrels from each of the 10 Barrel Trees across the country are available for $200 each at operationridehome.com. In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA), the program has helped nearly 13,000 service members travel home for Christmas since 2011, and raised almost $3 million.

“Our whiskey barrels have always had a special role to play, and during the holiday season, they take on an even greater purpose—bringing military families together,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller. “We hope our friends will purchase a barrel to help service members create cherished memories with their loved ones. It’s an opportunity to honor their sacrifices and make this season even more meaningful for the families.”

Jack Daniel’s has long supported both serving and retired veterans. In August this year, the distillery released its annual limited edition rye that honors US veterans.
