Independent blender Barrell Craft Spirits (BCS) has announced the sale of its blending and bottling facility in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, to American Craft Bottling. The company will consolidate operations at its original Gilmore facility as part of the effort to adapt to current market conditions.

Terms of the sale, announced on January 30, were not disclosed.

“We regularly refine our commercial strategy to stay ahead of evolving industry trends to support long-term growth,” said BCS founder Joe Beatrice.

Beatrice noted the decision was made in response to industry-wide shifts, stating: “While the economic environment has presented challenges across the spirits industry, it has sharpened our focus and reinforced the importance of proactive decision-making.”

BCS will now undertake all blending operations at its original Gilmore facility, which the company confirmed offers enough capacity to support current and future needs.

The company also plans to invest in new equipment and technology to expand its operations without disrupting ongoing work.

Founded in 2013, Barrell Craft Spirits has built its reputation on sourcing and blending unique aged, cask-strength whiskeys from a variety of distilling partners. This sale marks a strategic shift for the award-winning Louisville-based company, focusing its physical footprint while continuing its blending program.

The move reflects a broader trend of operational consolidation among producers in the American whiskey sector. Jim Beam announced a pause in production at its Clermont facility throughout 2026, while Diageo North America has paused production at George Dickel and Balcones.

As BCS makes this move, Joe Beatrice thanked the brand’s supporters for their continued loyalty.

“We’re grateful to our loyal fans and whiskey enthusiasts who have continued to support us with each release,” he commented.

“We plan to continue bringing you the most innovative, creative, and complex products our industry has to offer in 2026 and beyond.”

BCS releases are sold in 49 US states and international markets, including the UK, South Korea, Ukraine, and Australia.
