Barrell Craft Spirits (BCS) has introduced Barrell Toasted Dovetail Whiskey, a limited-edition expression featuring 33 months of secondary maturation in toasted American oak. The new release joins the Louisville-based blender’s Black Label Series and will retail for $199.99 per 750ml bottle.

The expression reimagines BCS’s award-winning Barrell Dovetail blend with additional aging in toasted American oak barrels.

The original Dovetail whiskey undergoes finishing in California Cabernet, Port, and rum casks before the secondary maturation process.

“This limited-edition expression reimagines BCS’ award-winning Barrell Dovetail with an elevated dimension,” the company stated.

The extended aging in toasted oak develops “layers of caramelized sugar, warm spice, and rich oak,” according to the brand.

Barrell Toasted Dovetail was distilled in Indiana and Tennessee before being blended and bottled in Kentucky at 123.8 proof (61.9% ABV).

The whiskey is now available for purchase through the BCS website and at select retailers across the United States.

Founded in 2013, Barrell Craft Spirits has established itself as a prominent independent blender in the American whiskey category.

The company’s Black Label Series showcases what it describes as “cutting edge blending methods and techniques which set the expert blender apart.”

BCS products are currently distributed in 49 US states, Puerto Rico, the UK, South Korea, Ukraine, and Australia.

The launch follows the brand’s pattern of releasing limited-edition expressions that build upon their core portfolio offerings.

Dovetail represents one of BCS’s signature blends, having garnered multiple awards since its initial release.

The use of toasted oak barrels for secondary maturation has become increasingly popular among American whiskey producers seeking to add complexity and depth to their expressions.
