Bringing a designer’s eye and a cabinet-maker’s craft to English single malt whisky.

About Tom

As co-founder of Ascalon, Tom Clarke brings a unique material-led mindset to English single malt whisky. Rooted in early training within his father’s cabinet-making workshop, Tom built a successful career as a furniture and brand designer before returning to his craft traditions. This hands-on background directly shapes Ascalon’s distinctive character, particularly its signature English oak casks. By blending rigorous design thinking with traditional craftsmanship, Tom ensures every bottle reflects a deep commitment to authenticity, provenance, and the quiet power of well-crafted materials.

Put your brand in front of people who buy whisky

When we surveyed more than 11,000 of our readers in May 2026, they told us they buy over 62 million bottles a year between them, worth a combined £2.5 billion. They come to The Whiskey Wash to decide what to drink next.

If your brand belongs in that conversation, our media kit sets out our audience, our reach and the ways we can work together.
