About:

Penelope Bourbon founded in 2018 is one of the fastest growing award winning premium whiskey brands. They have annoucned the launch of Architects of Golf, a new limited edition collection featuring three expressions inspired by the brand’s earliest foundations. Started by two friends, Michael Paladini and Danny Polise on a golf course over a shared excahnge of ideas that would evolve into something much larger. Artchitets of Golf honors that origin story and the game which gave the founders time to build creatively what would become Penelope Bourbon.

Architects of Golf is will ultimately be an 18 bottle release. This review coveres Hole 1.

“Each hole represents a distinct batch.” said Danny Polise, Founder and Master Blender of Penelope Bourbon. “They are designed to explore the nuances of different stave profiles and how they evolve the whiskey. It made developing the collection as fun as playing the game.”
Appearance:
Dark clear copper tasted neat in a Glencairn glass with semi-slow legs which cling to the surface.
Nose:
Floral nose with light bursts of oak, pear fruit, vanilla flowers, and just a unique hint of pineapple cream.
Palate:
Light body with a smooth mouthfeel and a nice medium-dry feel. The body opens with soft caramel sugars and oak. Characoal evolves across the palate and gives way to a chocolate milk creamyness. There is a finish of fruit sugars and leather.
Finish:
The finish is oak and something almost tropical. It is sweet and enjoyable while it holds a nice long time on the tongue.
Comments:
Penelope is growing fast and they’re popular. I can appreciate why. This is a fun whiskey with a lot of flavor and body to keep you engaged. At the price point as well it is clearly tailored for consumers. I even brought some of this out with me to a golf event, and can difinitively say it is quite nice on the course as well.

Ultimately these bottles are well designed, they look good, and will be fun to have in a golf bag or whiskey cart.
