A groundbreaking networking platform promises to revolutionize how bartenders, chefs, and industry professionals connect and advance their careers globally.

Hospitality professionals worldwide gained access to a dedicated digital networking space when Shaker Collective launched on Monday, July 14. The platform, created by former Diageo advocacy program leaders Marissa Johnston and Evonne Eadie, aims to replace the fragmented communication methods currently plaguing the industry.

The new platform addresses a critical pain point for hospitality workers who rely on scattered WhatsApp groups, Facebook threads, and LinkedIn messages to find work opportunities and industry connections. By centralizing these conversations, Shaker Collective promises to separate professional networking from personal social media use.

Shaker Collective Platform To Open Up The Hospitality Industry

The platform offers an extensive range of features tailored specifically for hospitality professionals. Regional job boards and guest shift collaborations form the backbone of the service, while a global trade show calendar keeps users informed about upcoming industry events.

Additional features include sustainability forums, trend discussions, bar and restaurant recommendations, industry tastings, and brand event calendars.

“Having spent years navigating endless group chats to connect with teams worldwide, I saw the need for a single platform accessible to all—from newcomers to seasoned professionals,” states Marissa Johnston, co-founder of Shaker Collective who also serves as Executive Director at OurWhisky Foundation. “Shaker Collective is designed to centralise these conversations and allow professionals to reclaim their messaging spaces, separating the work from the personal. I can’t wait to connect with the global hospitality community and continue to support the industry in advancing their careers.”

The platform caters to various industry segments. Newcomers can access foundational resources and entry-level job opportunities, while experienced bartenders can expand networks through mentorship programs and international guest shift collaborations. Freelancers and consultants benefit from streamlined booking systems and portfolio sharing capabilities.

Global Reach as Shaker Collective Expands Across Markets

Initial launch markets include Australia, India, and the United Kingdom, though the platform welcomes hospitality professionals from any location. The founders emphasize that Shaker Collective will grow organically with its user base, expanding features, and regional presence based on member needs.

Evonne Eadie, co-founder of Shaker Collective, added: “From the outset, our goal has been to build the go-to resource for hospitality professionals to advance their careers. Having experienced the challenges of sourcing opportunities and maintaining industry connections, we knew a better solution was needed. Shaker Collective is that solution – a platform built for connection, growth, and meaningful opportunity.”

A Platform That Fosters Connections & Opportunities

As well as supporting bartenders, chefs, and freelancers in the industry, Shaker Collective also boasts features that can be used by other industry professionals. For example, brand representatives can now gain direct access to on-trade professionals, enabling real-time feedback collection and event promotion. Media and recruiters can also tap into industry insights and identify emerging talent through dedicated networking spaces.

Membership remains free for hospitality workers, with paid tiers available for media professionals, recruiters, consultants, and brand representatives who require enhanced networking capabilities. Existing industry communities are encouraged to explore the platform, which Marissa and Evonne describe as “One community. Every opportunity. Your global hospitality network.”

The launch represents a significant shift in how hospitality professionals manage their careers. By consolidating industry communications into one purpose-built platform, Shaker Collective addresses long-standing inefficiencies that have hampered professional development and networking opportunities in the hospitality sector.
