Blue Run Blueprint Series Bourbon: 105-Proof Debut

Blue Run Spirits has unveiled the Blueprint Series, a new line of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey beginning with a 105-proof inaugural release blended from two distinct mashbills. The bourbon, priced at $69.99 (£52), will be available nationally at select retailers starting May 1.

Head of Whiskey and Innovation Shaylyn Gammon led the blending process. Gammon is one of the most decorated women in American whiskey.

“When crafting Blue Run releases, I think about the qualities bourbon enthusiasts expect, while also considering how we invite new consumers into the category,” said Gammon. “With the Blueprint Series, the goal was to create a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that can serve as a blueprint for discovery—something approachable and soft, yet layered enough to inspire continued exploration.”

The release combines a wheated mashbill with an experimental mash the Georgetown, Kentucky-based company calls the “Founders’ Mash.” The blend also incorporates an unconventional 80/15/0/5 bourbon laid down during the brand’s early days.

The team settled on 105 proof (52.5% ABV) after extensive evaluation of the brand’s most intriguing barrels. Blue Run says the proof point delivers bold flavor concentration while maintaining balance and silkiness.

According to the brand, the lower-floor-aged experimental mashbill contributes fruit-forward, fusel character. The top-floor-aged wheated component adds woody heat and pleasant softness.

Official tasting notes from the brand describe a nose of soft floral notes and subtle orchard fruit. The palate offers warm baking spice, juicy apple, and cinnamon. The finish delivers toasted oak and lingering warmth of spice with a hint of dry wood heat.

Packaging features Blue Run’s signature French-cut glass bottle with precious metal elements and the brand’s iconic viceroy butterfly motif.

Blue Run Spirits has accumulated numerous industry accolades since its founding, including Platinum and Gold recognitions at the ASCOT, TAG Global, and San Francisco World Spirits Competitions. The company describes the Blueprint Series as a defining moment in its evolution, with the inaugural release intended to establish the framework for future entries in the line.

The bourbon is positioned as versatile, performing equally well neat, on the rocks, or in an Old Fashioned. More information is available at bluerunspirits.com.
