Canadian distillery Black Fox Farm and Distillery has been named Worldwide Whisky Producer of the Year at the 2025 International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) awards in London. The Saskatchewan-based producer received the honor on 12 November, recognizing its portfolio quality, innovation, and commitment to excellence.
The estate distillery grows over 95% of the grains used in its spirits on 160 acres of prairie land.
“These awards celebrate the skill, patience, and precision that go into every drop of our spirits,” said Barb Stefanyshyn-Cote, co-founder and CEO.

The Worldwide Whisky Producer trophy follows four product-specific IWSC awards Black Fox received in June 2025.
Black Fox Haskap Gin earned Spirit Gold Outstanding with a score of 99. The distillery’s Blended Canadian Whisky (2024) and Single Grain Canadian Whisky (triticosecale) both achieved Spirit Gold status with scores of 95.
Black Fox Cask Finished Canadian Whisky received Spirit Silver with a score of 90.
The distillery’s whiskies mature outdoors year-round in Canada’s extreme climate conditions, ranging from -40°C winters to +40°C summers.
“This award is not just about us,” said John Cote, co-founder and head distiller. “It’s a celebration of what Canada can bring to the world of whisky—integrity, innovation, and a deep connection to the land.”
Each Black Fox whisky bottle features a serial-numbered coin linked to a Certificate of Provenance, allowing consumers to trace the spirit’s journey from farm to glass.
The distillery is a founding member of the Estate Whisky Alliance, which promotes authenticity and sustainability in whisky production globally.
“Our goal has always been to craft spirits that are unmistakably Canadian, shaped by our prairies and defined by our values,” added Cote.
The IWSC is recognized as the world’s largest and most influential spirits competition.
