Bowmore and Aston Martin have unveiled the second and final release in their exclusive partnership with the launch of Bowmore ARC-54, an ultra-rare 54-year-old whisky presented in a handblown decanter inspired by the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar.
The whisky, distilled in November 1968, represents the culmination of more than five decades of maturation within Bowmore’s No.1 Vaults on the Scottish island of Islay. With only 130 decanters available globally, the release marks the pinnacle of the collaboration between the two luxury brands. It follows the launch of Bowmore ARC-52 in June 2022.Â

Bowmore ARC-54 Aging Process
The rare spirit underwent an innovative maturation process, spending time in both European Oak and American Oak casks before being united in a precise ratio.
“A Bowmore as exquisite and complex as this 54-year-old is a testament to the skills of our distillery team, but also the very embodiment of what can be achieved simply by slowing down, standing still and letting things unfold as they are destined to,” said Dr. Calum Fraser, Chief Blender at Bowmore.
The final composition consists of 61.8% European Oak-aged spirit from a second-fill Sherry Butt and 38.2% American Oak-aged spirit from a third-fill Hogshead. These proportions reference the Golden Ratio, reflecting the mathematical harmony found in nature and design.
After combining the two components, the whisky spent an additional 15 months marrying together, resulting in what Bowmore describes as “infinite layers of flavour to captivate every sense.”
Hypercar-Inspired Design

Each handblown decanter takes its design cues from the aerodynamic exterior of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, specifically the vehicle’s venturi tunnels that generate significant downforce.
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, explained the connection between the hypercar and the whisky presentation.
“Bowmore ARC-54 continues the cutting edge, technology-based collaboration between two exceptional brands that are steeped in heritage and tradition,” said Reichman. “Similar principles of materiality and fluid dynamics are employed, replacing air flow for liquid movement to create a uniquely formed shape generated by the pure movement of Bowmore whisky.”
The resulting decanters reflect both the technical precision of Aston Martin’s engineering and the natural landscapes of Islay where Bowmore has crafted whisky since 1779.
Tasting Notes
Bottled at 44.3% ABV, the whisky offers a complex flavor profile featuring zesty citrus, tropical fruits, salted caramel sweetness, warming spices of ginger and cinnamon, and Bowmore’s signature whisper of peat smoke.
