Douglas Laing & Co, a Scottish independent whisky bottler, recently unveiled its second Scallywag Cask Strength Winter Limited Edition bottling following its inaugural release in 2020.
The Scallywag Cask Strength Winter Limited Edition was matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Sherry butts and is offered at a natural cask strength of 53.1% alcohol without chill-filtration.

The bottler said in official tasting notes the release has notes of juicy dates, rich toffee sauce and warming spices. Each bottle is presented with a mini, Santa-like woollen hat.
“We’re delighted to unveil Scallywag’s second Winter Edition bottling, rounding off a year of positive growth for our Speyside Malt brand,” said Scallywag Brand Manager, Rebecca Fennell, in a prepared statement. “The Cask Strength Winter Edition combines a playful pack with truly serious Whisky – matured exclusively in Spanish Sherry casks, this big, feisty, fruity and festive dram is the ultimate warmer for those crisp, magical Winter nights.”
Scallywag whiskies are matured predominantly in Sherry casks, imparting what’s described by the brand as a rich, dark colour and a deliciously fruity, chocolatey flavour profile.
Scallywag Winter Edition is available in specialist spirits retailers and online and is expected to retail at £49.99 / €55.
