Tasting Notes

About:

Aged five years. 80 Proof, 40% ABV. Mash Bill: Undisclosed. MSRP $29.99
Appearance:
The whiskey is a visually thin, pale straw and light pastel yellow.
Nose:
A subtle and pleasant nose, with just a hint of smoke swirled together with mellow sugar.
Palate:
On first sip, the whiskey presents a fairly rounded blend between sweet and smooth. I only detect a slight bit of smoke, but nothing approaching the “pronounced smokiness” advertised on the bottle. The mid-mouth feel is a little bright, and the finish is warm with a lingering caramel note.
Finish:
Comments:
Whether you find the messaging appealing or not, producing a whiskey with a clearly defined brand voice and target market is likely just smart business. Not to mention that the consumer-friendly $29.99 is in line with their stated goal of a “solid spirit at a reasonable price.” In the end, I think Two Eagles Distillery have a product that works perfectly well with their stated goals. So, if you decide to pick up a bottle, visit their website and mix up a spirited cocktail.
