Part of this work includes in the lucrative travel retail sector, which is where we find a new limited edition series of bottlings being unveiled. The Macallan Concept No. 1, according to those behind it, is said to be “inspired by surreal art and innovative production techniques” in its creation. To that end what we have here is a non-age statement expression drawing from whiskies first matured in sherry seasoned oak casks and then for an equal time in ex-bourbon casks. The resulting whisky is then bottled at 40% ABV.
