Pursuit Distilling Co. x TRUE Dead Golfer Bourbon

In another whiskey x sportswear collaboration, Pursuit Distilling Co. has partnered with golf footwear brand, TRUE, to release the Dead Golfer Bourbon.

Just two barrels of the whiskey have been bottled, making for a total of 438 bottles for public release. The whiskey was distilled from a mash bill comprising 72% corn, 24% rye, and 4% malted barley. Aged for six years in American white oak, the bourbon was bottled at 100 proof.

The collaboration between Pursuit Distilling Co. and TRUE was born from a friendship between two PGA TOUR players, Andres Gonzales (co-founder of Pursuit) and Ryan Moore (co-founder of TRUE). The two were college roommates and saw this as a unique opportunity to bring their two brands together.

The name ‘The Dead Golder’ refers to TRUE’s golfing skeleton that appears on the brand’s footwear and apparel.

According to Jason Moore, TRUE co-founder and CEO: “Collaboration and camaraderie are fundamental to our brand – and this project was no different. We reached out to our friends at Pursuit and tasted dozens of iterations of whiskey, bourbon and IPA spirits they’ve had aging here in Washington – and we hand selected two barrels that felt just right for our palette. The result is 438 bottles of six-year bourbon, aged in American white oak, wrapped in custom TRUE packaging, featuring our Dead Golfer icon and additional TRUE swag in every package”.

Tasting notes for The Dead Golfer feature “orange blossom, fresh stonefruit, orange peel” on the nose. A silky smooth palate gives way to a “candied citrus, fruit gummies, buttermint finish”.

The Pursuit x TRUE Dead Golfer Bourbon is available via Pursuit Distilling’s website for an RRP of $105

Three New Copperworks Whiskeys

Copperworks Distilling Co. has unveiled not one, not two, but three new whiskeys this week.

The first new whiskey is the Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Single Cask No. 22-2 7 Year Old. The whiskey is distilled from a mash bill that combines five different types of malted barley: one pale and four caramelized. This mash bill has long been a staple of Copperworks.

Single Cask No. 22-2 was then matured for seven years in a refill American single malt whiskey cask.

Bottled at 60% ABV from a single cask, only 203 bottles are publicly available at an RRP of $89.99

Tasting notes feature “bison grass, burning orange oil, cake batter, and aloe vera on the nose” with “sweet citrus and vanilla custard […] chamomile, shortbread, and Ceylon cinnamon” on the palate.

The other two new releases from Copperworks are both American single malts. Both use Fritz barley, but the barley for Releases 049 and 050 were subjected to different malting processes. Release 049 “features pale malted Fritz, while Release 050 Vienna malted Fritz”.

Both releases consist of less than 2,000 bottles and are available for $69.99 each on the Copperworks website

Bottled a 96 proof, the whiskey features aromas of “strawberry, dried raisins, figs, red orchard fruits, red lace licorice, citrus peel” on the nose. On the palate, expect “black currant, strawberry shortcake, clove, forest floor, flan”. The finish lingers with pine, birch, mint, and cherry jam.
