IrishAmerican Trading Company Offers Up A 19 Year Expression

The IrishAmerican Trading Company recently released their third whiskey to market — a 19-year-old Irish single malt, Founder’s Reserve cask strength, carefully selected by founder John McKay.

McKay passed away, but his vision, dream and legacy are said by the brand to be embedded into the premium series. Each bottle is labelled with his signature of approval and gently matured for 19 years in Jamaican rum casks. They are crafted in small batches, according to official tasting notes, for a deep, rich flavor with citrus undertones and a fresh aroma that makes for a rare, smooth single malt long finish.

The cask strength Irish whiskey pours at 54%.

McKay launched Achill Island Distillery in 2019, which was the country’s first island distillery and the home of IrishAmerican whiskey. The distillery has been producing whiskey since late 2019 and opened to visitors and tours in 2020.

The IrishAmerican Trading Company also has two award winning whiskies on the market, the Irish American Classic Blend and the IrishAmerican 10-year Single Malt.

The 19-year single malt cask strength Founder’s Reserve was one of the last projects McKay worked on before he died. This founders reserve was released in a limited number of bottles and comes in a luxurious piano black box.

A limited release of only ‘625’ bottles commemorates McKay’s birthday. It is currently available in Ireland and will be coming to the US in November. The company behind it is currently run by his two sons Michael and Sean McKay.
