Four Gate Celebrates Kelvin Cooperage’s 60 Years With Special Whiskey Release

Four Gate Whiskey Company recently announced it is releasing a special whiskey to commemorate the founding of Kelvin Cooperage some 60 years ago.

Kelvin Cooperage was founded in Glasgow, Scotland in 1963 and is now based in Louisville, KY, acting as a full-service cooperage supplying new and used barrels to wine, spirits, and beer producers around the world.  Four Gates has relied heavily on the cooperage over the years in providing them advice, guidance, and “expertly crafted and sourced” barrels of all kinds.

The whiskey company sees this collaboration as being a huge part of their success.

To commemorate, they’ve selected 8-year-old barrels of Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey and re-barreled them in new toasted and charred casks from Kelvin Cooperage. The resulting double-oaked bourbon is seen by the brand as being “dark, full-bodied and rich in flavor.” The bottle itself features the logos of both Four Gate Whiskey Company and Kelvin Cooperage.

The whiskey is an 8-Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey with a mash bill of 75% corn, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley. 2,340 bottles were produced at 125.6 proof and priced $199.

Four Gate Whiskey Company Kelvin Sixty is available in all markets in which Four Gate Whiskey Company is sold, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Indiana, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Illinois, Arizona, California, and Colorado. Bottles are also available through Seelbachs.com, BourbonOutfitter.comSharedPour.com and Caskers.com.
