WhistlePig, Pit Viper Collaborate on SummerStock Whiskey And Shades

WhistlePig Whiskey recently teamed up with outdoors eyewear brand Pit Viper on a drink and sunglasses combo for summer.

The limited-edition WhistlePig SummerStock Whiskey and matching Pit Viper SummerStock 2000s sunglasses launched on the first day of summer, and together the duo kicks off a season of summer cocktails and “RyeDays.”

A statement from WhistlePig notes that the new expression is a blend of rye and wheat whiskey finished in a toasted “solara” barrel.

WhistlePig’s signature rye joins the softer wheat whiskey for a blend that’s finished in an experimental solara, different from the traditional solera method … this with levels of toasted barrels, including those literally toasted by the sun.

The whiskey clocks in at 86 proof (43% ABV), and WhistlePig SummerStock features aromas and tastes of oak, soft baking spice and subtle maple, followed by a mellow, jammy finish.

And for the combo, Pit Viper’s custom SummerStock 2000s sunglasses finish out the experience.

The two brands collaborated using 100% solar power at the WhistlePig farm and distillery in Vermont. After installing its first solar array in 2020, WhistlePig now generates enough solar power for the full craft operation, and has plans to start sending energy back to the local grid this year.

A portion of the proceeds from the limited-edition SummerStock Whiskey and Sunglasses duo will be donated to Everybody Solar.

“We’re stoked about this new whiskey and partnership. We enjoy our whiskey all year long, and want to make it fun and easy for everyone to join in,” said WhistlePig’s blender, Meghan Ireland, in the prepared statement. “From WhistlePig’s solar project, to experimenting with wheat and toasted barrels, to summer shenanigans with Pit Viper, SummerStock has been an epic endeavor. We can’t wait to see where fans take the adventure this season.”

WhistlePig and Pit Viper also challenged fans to make the most of the summer season, as Pit Viper’s roster of athletes and instigators will be reimagining summer leisure under the hashtag #SummerStock, while the whiskey brand celebrates the season with Summer RyeDays at bars across the country.

A QR code on the back of each 750mL bottle leads to seasonal serves and summer fun.
