Tasting Notes

About:

The 2026 release of The Iberian Series from Redbreast! Finished in Moscatel seasoned wine casks from Bodegas Quintapenas in southern Spain.

This whisky has undergone ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks before being finished in these Moscatel seasoned casks for the last 16 months of its aging.
Appearance:
Amber
Nose:
So fresh and fruity! Loads of lime on the nose at first, but it’s refreshing and welcoming rather than tart and intense. Freshly baked lemon cookies, lemon zest, sticky toffee sauce, desiccated coconut, strawberry sauce, mango sauce and sugar covered nuts.
Palate:
Rich and oily with a welcome instant dryness from those sun soaked wine casks. Classic single pot still maltiness and black pepper notes with zingy lemon and lime again running across the palate. So many different styles of butter! Fresh butter, brown butter, buttery pastries and creamed sugar.

It is so mouth coating and full of vibrant fresh fruits and rich butter notes – it’s quite difficult to note like this, especially if you’re already a fan of Redbreast.
Finish:
Quite nutty now with sticky toffee sauce and walnuts/hazelnuts. A really oily and sticky finish that just doesn’t want to leave your tastebuds. More of the classic Redbreast notes of sweet brioche and soft pepper notes, all kept alive by a sweet, caramel and peanuts with a drying, long and raisin quality to it.
Comments:
Well, isn’t that delicious. It feels like a sweeter, slightly younger Redbreast 15 year old, with that sweet addition of Moscatel seasoned wine casks. A wonderful addition to The Iberian Series, the previous releases have been very in demand and well reviewed, I can see this following the same suit.
