Tasting Notes

About:

Prakaan’s inaugural single malts have been named ‘The Tribuna Series’. Inspired by the wall’s three fortified layers and representing Thai history, provenance and passion that is woven into every step of their creation.

This release is combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Appearance:
Dark Gold
Nose:
Dried orange peel, fresh butter, mint and milk chocolate.
Palate:
Fresh oak, more dried orange, orange juice, juicy raisins, chocolate orange, sandalwood, a slight sulphur note hidden underneath all of the sweetness. A big note of honeycomb and burnt sugar, then some more spent firework aromas.
Finish:
There are some quite coastal notes kicking around on this, it almost reminds me of unpeated Raasay single malt. The finish is really long and is full of salt, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, orange segments and orange oil.
Comments:
The finish on this is quite remarkable, it just doesn’t stop. It’s very impressive for something bottled at 43% ABV – you could easily guess this was close to 48%. It does have some welcome savoury notes, or to be more specific, darker sweet notes. Think about loads of vanilla, molasses and brown butter. It’s a really good, deep, interesting style of single malt.
