About:

Each year as part of the Parker’s Heritage Collection, we select a special Whiskey to be released in the name of our late Master Distiller Parker Beam. The barrels selected for this series include Bourbon, Rye, and Wheat Whiskeys, among others, and are some of the finest and most diverse American Whiskeys ever produced. They are a fitting tribute to the expertise of Parker Beam.

The 19th Edition is comprised of 160 barrels drawn from multiple rickhouses and floors across Heaven Hill’s rickhouse sites. The blend includes 15-year-old Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon, aged in Rickhouse A; 11-year-old Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey aged in Rickhouses DD, GG, and BB; and 12-year-old Whiskey aged in Rickhouse Y, made from only two grains – rye and malt. Each mashbill was aged in unique rickhouses and floors, then married together post-aging.
Appearance:
Mahogany
Nose:
Sugar covered cherries, antique oak, soft wheat, cola, and a touch of cigar smoke.
Palate:
Buttery mouthfeel. Almonds, sweet and smoky complexity across the palate, oak cask, spice of alcohol balanced against sugar sweetness of wheat grain, pops of aged cigar tobacco.
Finish:
Long – this went all day. Chocolate covered cherries, almonds, sugar dance across the finish.
Comments:
To me this was a homerun. Nearly perfect balancing of sweetness and harsh notes of alcohol, the tightrope between high abv and consumable beverage. Overall this showcased the profound depth of flavor you can make with whiskey while also highlighting the softer sweeter notes that make whiskey approachable. Excellent.
