Tasting Notes

About:

A one litre bottle with a twist on the well loved Black label with this limited edition being blended exclusively from a range of single malts from the Speyside region of Scotland.
Appearance:
A deep artificially coloured amber with no beading when swirled in the glass.
Nose:
An overall subdued nose with the main focus being on orchard fruits like sweet green apples, dried apricots and fruit and nut chocolate. There is a slightly lactic note of vanilla yogurt and bananas.
Palate:
The thin texture feels almost watery providing some faint pepper spice and crystallized honey. The orchard fruits from the nose are present on the taste with apples, peaches and pears which are tied in with dark chocolate and a bitter oak tang.
Finish:
A short to mid finish which is reminiscent of over brewed green tea with bitter tannins staying on the tongue.
Comments:
While the orchard fruits renowned with Speyside are present, this release doesn’t seem to have the same punch as the standard Black Label, providing a more toned down expression.
