Tasting Notes

About:

Five Springs Infused Bourbon is Kentucky born and bread. Their production materials describe the company thusly, “We created Five Springs because we believe bourbon needs a refresh. Made with premium bourbon aged in American oak barrels, blended and bottled in Kentucky and infused with natural fruits, botanicals, and other flavors. Our products honor bourbon’s roots while embracing the new and adventurous.”

Media release on their webpage provides the following details:
All of our flavors are derived from the finest natural ingredients, creating the signature Five Springs taste. So, if you want to add a splash of our Blood Orange bourbon instead of an orange slice, go for it. Bourbon infused with honey, sage, and other natural flavors.

Honey Sage is nature in a bottle. Imagine a drive with the windows rolled down or a hike through the woods in the fall. Enjoy neat, on the rocks, or mix with ginger beer for a refreshing Honey Sage Kentucky Mule. Mixologists also love our signature Honey Sage Paper Plane.
Appearance:
Yellow honey with quick thick legs.
Nose:
Sage, green tea, rosemary, with just a hint of honey and whisps of light oak.
Palate:
Very herbal honey with soft medicinal quality like the last drops of a hot toddy. It’s not syrupy as i’d anticipate with honey but still tends towards the tea and sage profile over the hyper sweet combo of bourbon and honey.
Finish:
Thick mouthfeel, herbal finish with hints of mint. Hold is medium overall but clean.
Comments:
Hot toddy in a glass really! Make a cup of tea, add lemon to preference a double of this. It’ll cure what ails you!

Overall it’s good and spot on to what it purports to be, which is nice. This infusion wasn’t really to my profile but that’s okay. It has huge potential in the cocktail or sipping world. I see a lot of merit with this, which is not always the case with infused bourbons.
