Tasting Notes

About:

A very sought-after bottling of a massive sherry bomb from the 70s. This Aberlour 100 Proof release showcases how truly fantastic Aberlour’s liquid really is, especially when delivered at higher strengths.
Appearance:
Dark Gold
Nose:
A huge opening with chocolate orange, golden syrup, mandarin syrup, dark chocolate, old oak, leather and crumbled biscuit topping.
Palate:
Rich, oily, a little spicy but still well balanced and approachable to taste. Chewy raisins, Maraschino cherries in syrup, mint, lemon pepper, orange oil, a very nice note of tobacco, like sweet rolling tobacco. Dark honey, beeswax, coconut, Cognac, sultana, cake mix, black pepper and gentian root.
Finish:
Long notes of oak, raisin, chocolate orange, juicy apricots, softly drying, more coconut, olive oil, orange oil, Cognac, Campari and Cocchi Torino.
Comments:
Complex, dark, rich and just a true delight. The finish doesn’t seem to end and moves between bright orange, bitter orange and redder notes of Italian vermouth. Truly delicious! I wonder if there was any Paxarette used in its production.
