The Glasgow Distillery has released its first Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The limited edition celebrates a decade of peated whisky production at the independent Glasgow site.

Limited to just 550 bottles, the milestone release is a marriage of three ex-bourbon casks. It combines two refill ex-bourbon barrels and one first-fill ex-bourbon barrel.

The whisky is bottled at 54% ABV. It is natural in color and non-chill filtered.

READ THE STORY

Peated single malt production at the distillery began in 2016. That was one year after the launch of the distillery’s core single malt program, which marked its own tenth anniversary in 2025.

Peated production now accounts for five months of output each year. The 10 Year Old is the first release to reach a full decade of maturation from those original 2016 runs.

For this release, the team deliberately chose ex-Bourbon cask maturation. The aim was to allow the spirit and its decade of maturation to take center stage, creating what the distillery describes as an “honest spirit-forward profile.”

“Reaching ten years with our peated single malt feels like a really significant moment for us,” said Sebastian Bunford-Jones, head of sales and marketing. “Peated production has become an important part of what we do at The Glasgow Distillery, so for this release we wanted to keep things deliberately simple and let the spirit speak for itself.”

Bunford-Jones added: “Ex-Bourbon cask maturation have given us a whisky that really shows how our peated spirit has developed over a decade, while retaining the character we’ve been building since those first runs in 2016.”

According to the official notes from the brand, expect “roasted pineapple, soft smoke, gentle vanilla, waxy lemon and dried orange peel.”

“With only 550 bottles, it’s a small release, but an important one for the distillery,” Bunford-Jones said.

The whisky is presented in a gift carton. It is now available through the distillery’s website and select UK retailers.

The release will also reach Germany and Finland later this year.

The Glasgow Distillery began producing single malt in 2015. It became the first independent single malt whisky distillery in Glasgow in over 100 years.
