The SCOTCH whisky bar at The Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh is offering a one-of-one bottle of 1945 Glen Grant from independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail. As part of its festive program, the bar has also secured several other world-exclusive whiskies available to purchase by the dram.
The landmark partnership with Gordon & Macphail presents one of the few remaining whiskies from this post-war era.
Distilled at the close of wartime Britain and matured for nearly 80 years, the single malt is available exclusively at SCOTCH for £29,000 (approx. US$38,926).

Gordon & MacPhail is a renowned bottler and distiller, known for its extensive portfolio of aged single malt Scotch whiskies.
While the 1945 Glen Grant is reserved for whole-bottle purchase, SCOTCH is also offering a selection of world-exclusive bottlings by the dram.
Ross Barr, bar manager at SCOTCH, said: “Each of these bottles tells a story of craftsmanship and legacy. These aren’t just drams; they’re moments in time, and having them exclusively at SCOTCH reflects the calibre of experience we’re proud to offer.”
Among the exclusive offerings is the Bunnahabhain Andrew Brown 35 Year Anniversary Edition.
In a global first, SCOTCH is the only bar in the world to house the release, of which only 35 bottles exist.
The 35-year-old whisky was created to honor Distillery Manager Andrew Brown’s 35 years at the Islay-based distillery. It began maturation in a 1989 ex-Oloroso hogshead before finishing in a bespoke Pedro Ximénez firkin.
Official notes from the brand state the whisky delivers notes of dried fruit, cocoa, warm spice, and a luxurious mouthfeel. It is available for £650 (approx. US$872) per 25ml dram.
Another SCOTCH exclusive is the Fettercairn Vanguard Rare 29 Year Old, limited to 99 bottles worldwide.
After 25 years in a refill Bourbon hogshead, the whisky was finished in rare French pink oak casks.
The brand’s official tasting notes describe it as having distinctive floral and ripe strawberry notes that elevate Fettercairn’s signature tropical style. This expression can be purchased for £300 (approx. US$400) per 25ml.
The bar is also the exclusive home for Fragrant Drops 31-Year-Old Single Grain.
This single grain whisky from Edinburgh’s North British Distillery was selected by Leith-based independent bottler Fragrant Drops from a first-fill ex-Bourbon barrel.
Only 60 bottles are available, bottled at natural cask strength.
According to official notes, it has layers of creamy toffee, vanilla, orchard fruits, and gentle spice. The whisky is available for £30 (approx. US$40) per 25ml, or £300 (approx. US$400) per bottle.
These bottlings form a cornerstone of the bar’s membership and guest experiences, which include curated tastings and expert guidance.
