Pursuit Spirits Blends Three Distinct Rye Mash Bills
The new release features three different mash bills: a 95% rye and 5% malted barley blend from Bardstown Bourbon Company, alongside two Sagamore Spirit recipes: one matching the 95% rye composition and another with 52% rye, 43% corn, and 5% malted barley.
“After just one small-scale test in three short weeks, this rye easily became one of the best barrel finishes we’ve ever pulled off,” said Ryan Cecil, Pursuit Spirits Master Blender and CEO.
According to official tasting notes, the whiskey presents sweet fried dough, tart cranapple, roasted dates, and candied ginger on the nose. The palate features soft baked apricots, toasted bread pudding, black walnuts, and date syrup, while the finish delivers floral jasmine tea, orange zest, sweet paprika, and charred oak.
Pursuit Spirits Expands Portfolio Beyond Traditional Rye
This release marks the latest offering from Pursuit Spirits, the whiskey brand founded by the creators of the Bourbon Pursuit podcast. The company has gained recognition for its United series, which sources whiskeys from various American distilleries to create distinctive blends.
Pursuit United Cognac Cask Rye will initially be available to P.Club members before a public release at the company’s Mellwood Avenue distillery in Louisville. While pricing was not disclosed in the announcement, the whiskey joins Pursuit’s portfolio of premium blended offerings.
