Planteray Rum unveils 2025 Single Casks edition with ten limited releases
Planteray Rum has launched its 2025 Single Casks program featuring ten limited-edition bottlings including three barrel swap collaborations with whisky distilleries. The collection showcases rums from across the Caribbean and South America that undergo triple maturation including finishes in casks that previously held spirits, wines and liqueurs.
Each rum in the series begins its journey aging in ex-bourbon barrels in its country of origin before traveling to France for secondary maturation in Ferrand Cognac casks.
The releases then receive a third aging period in distinctive cask types.
“Our Single Casks are like fingerprints, no two are alike,” said Alexandre Gabriel, owner and master blender of Planteray Rum. “Every cask is an experiment, shaped by encounters and knowledge shared with other producers, and reveals a singular aromatic profile—a true journey in a bottle.”
The 2025 lineup includes three barrel swap collaborations with Scotch whisky distilleries. Paraguay 2014 aged in Arbikie Highland Rye casks (46.5% ABV) combines tropical sweetness with Highland spice. Trinidad 2016 finished in Armorik Oloroso whisky casks (44.3% ABV) gains richness from the Brittany distillery’s century-old traditions.

Fiji Islands 2009 matured in Kilchoman peated whisky casks (47.7% ABV) merges high-ester rum with Islay smoke.
The remaining seven releases include Dominican Republic 2014 in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks (48.8% ABV), Barbados 2017 in Marsala wine casks (48.5% ABV), and Jamaica 2013 in Madeira wine casks (52.0% ABV).
Additional bottlings feature Fiji Islands 2017 in Pauillac wine casks (48.3% ABV), Panama 2019 in white Port casks (44.6% ABV), Barbados 2018 in apricot liqueur casks (48.6% ABV), and Paraguay 2018 in Chardonnay wine casks (49.1% ABV).
“Our partners take great pride in selecting these casks,” said Jonas Indesteege, global rum prestige collection brand manager. “They do it because they want to offer their customers something extraordinary.”
The 2025 Planteray Rum Single Casks are available in select markets in 70cl bottles with suggested retail prices ranging from $55 to $100 (€50 to €90). Planteray Rum, formerly known as Plantation Rum, was named Best Rum Brand of the Year 2024 by The Spirits Business.
