Maker’s Mark has partnered with Selfridges to release Selfridges Barrel No. 1 2026, a bespoke Private Selection bourbon created exclusively for the British retailer. The limited-edition expression goes on sale from July 1 at Selfridges stores in London, Manchester and Birmingham, and online at Selfridges.com, priced at £91.99.

The release marks the first collaboration between the Kentucky bourbon brand and the luxury retailer.

Each Private Selection bourbon starts as fully matured Maker’s Mark Cask Strength. The liquid then undergoes a bespoke finishing process using 10 handcrafted oak staves. For this expression, the Selfridges team selected a unique stave combination through Maker’s Mark’s Private Selection program.

Quick whisky question

Single malt is everywhere, but what does it mean? We want to know what the word “single” means to you. Three quick questions, under a minute.

Must the barley in a single malt be grown in the same country the whisky is made in?

How would you describe your whisky knowledge?

Bottled at 55.4% ABV, Selfridges Barrel No. 1 2026 is described by the brand as balancing “notes of spice, dark fruit, vanilla sweetness and rich oak, leading to a long, warming finish.”

The bourbon retains the soft red winter wheat character that has defined Maker’s Mark since founders Margie and Bill Samuels Sr. set out to create a smoother, more approachable bourbon in 1953.

Just 258 bottles have been crafted for the release. Each is presented in a 700ml format.

“The Private Selection program allows us to share our obsessive approach to flavour discovery, inviting partners who refuse to compromise on quality to shape their own perfect expression of Maker’s Mark,” said Rob Samuels, eighth-generation whisky maker and managing director of Maker’s Mark. “Selfridges brought that exact, uncompromising vision to our stave-finishing process. Together, we ignored the easy path to create a bourbon that is intensely personal, meticulously crafted, and entirely unique within our series.”

Maker’s Mark is owned by Beam Suntory, which was renamed Suntory Global Spirits in 2024. The brand’s distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1980.

The Private Selection program was introduced by Maker’s Mark in 2015. It allows retailers, bars and other partners to create customized single-barrel expressions through the brand’s stave-finishing process.

Selfridges, founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909, operates four stores across the UK.
