Koopers Whiskey Unveils New Prodigal Son Bourbon Label

Koopers Whiskey has revealed a redesigned label for its The Prodigal Son Bourbon, timed to coincide with Bourbon Heritage Month this September.

The Prodigal Son is crafted from a blend of four Kentucky Straight Bourbons aged four, four, six, and six years. The whiskey is blended in small batches by the family-owned Texas brand.

Its name draws on the biblical story of the Prodigal Son, in which a father welcomes his son’s return with a celebration.

“Because sooner or later, after chasing adventures and finding ourselves far from where we started, we all come home,” the brand said. “And when you do, there’s only one thing left to do: make merry and be glad.”

The company positioned the release around themes of returning home, a concept it said resonates strongly in Texas. The four-grain, sour mash whiskey is available online, at the brand’s Texas tasting room, and through select retailers.

“Home is more than a place—it’s where our roots run deep, where we know who we are, and where the best stories and celebrations begin,” the brand said. “The Prodigal Son celebrates the journey back: embracing your roots, staying true to who you are, and raising a glass to the people and places that made you.”

The bourbon is bottled at 94.4 proof (47.2% ABV). Its four mashbills were distilled in Kentucky at Green River, OZ Tyler, and Lux Row. The four-grain, sour mash whiskey is available online, at the brand’s Texas tasting room, and through select retailers.

According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers vanilla frosting, cinnamon bun, dark brown sugar, and light citrus. The palate carries honey, coffee cake, baking spice, sweet oak, banana, and orange, while the finish delivers leather, burnt toffee, caramel, licorice, banana cream, and a slight dryness.

The Prodigal Son carries a suggested retail price of $61 (£45) per 750ml bottle.

Koopers Whiskey was founded by Troy Kooper and Michelle Kooper. The brand focuses on boutique Texas Bourbons and Ryes rooted in old-world blending traditions.

Its tasting room is located at 100 West U.S. 290, Ledbetter, Texas. The full range is also available through the Koopers Whiskey website.
