James B. Beam Distilling Co. has unveiled Knob Creek 9 Year Old: Independence Edition, a limited-edition expression of the brand’s signature nine-year-old bourbon. The release marks America’s upcoming 250th anniversary and joins a commemorative collection alongside Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark.
The bottling features a blue wax seal and a patriotic red, white, and blue label. It is the first time in Knob Creek’s history that the brand has changed the color of its signature wax seal.

Knob Creek was founded in 1992 and named for the Kentucky creek at Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home. It was created by sixth-generation Master Distiller Booker Noe to revive pre-Prohibition bourbon as part of the Small Batch Bourbon Collection.
The expression was inspired by the Bottled-in-Bond Act, which set quality standards for American whiskey. Today, Booker Noe’s son Fred Noe and grandson Freddie Noe continue the brand’s legacy.

The liquid is unchanged from the standard nine-year-old expression. It is aged for nine years in American white oak and bottled at 100 proof. According to the official notes from the brand, the bourbon offers a rich, sweet, woody, and full-bodied taste that is almost fruity.
