Globus Spirits Unveils First Indian Single Malt Whisky Matured In Mizunara Casks

Indian producer Globus Spirits has released the second expression in its DŌAAB Indian Single Malt Whisky Series, titled The Old Man & The Blossom. The limited-edition whisky was crafted at the company’s distillery in Behror, Rajasthan, and is the first Indian single malt to be matured in Mizunara oak casks sourced from Hokkaido, Japan.

DŌAAB Expression 02 is made from sustainably sourced Indian six-row barley.

The release is limited to 500 casks.

Shekhar Swarup, joint managing director of Globus Spirits, said: “With DŌAAB Expression 02, we continue to explore the art of storytelling through whisky.”

“This expression represents a dialogue between two cultures, India and Japan, and between two philosophies, heritage and innovation,” Swarup continued.

“Each bottle is a meditation on time, patience, and craftsmanship, brought together by our belief that great spirits are born when tradition meets curiosity.”

P.S. Gill, CEO of the consumer division at Globus Spirits, commented on the growing domestic market for the category.

“India’s single malt category is growing in double digits, driven by evolving tastes and an increasing sense of pride among consumers,” Gill noted.

“With DŌAAB, our vision is to redefine what an Indian single malt can stand for, globally relevant, deeply authentic, and unmistakably crafted.”

The new expression has debuted in Gurugram with a recommended retail price of ₹3,500-₹3,800 (~US$39-$43).

It will soon be available in premium outlets in select markets across India.

According to the official notes from the brand, the whisky has a nose of “delicate fresh florals layered with the warmth of vanilla.”

The palate is described as “exceptionally smooth with a velvety mouthfeel” and offers a “long & elegant finish.”

Globus Spirits has operated in India’s beverage alcohol industry for more than 30 years.

The company’s luxury division, The India Craft Spirits Co., is responsible for the DŌAAB brand.

Its portfolio also includes Terai India Dry Gin and Terai India Craft Vodka.

The India Craft Spirit Co. brands are present in more than 4,000 retail and on-premise locations across eight states in India.
