Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One Team have unveiled a limited-edition single malt, the Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2. The whisky was launched in London on Monday 3 August, marking the second year of the two brands’ partnership.

The release was inspired by Glenfiddich malt master Brian Kinsman and Aston Martin Formula One Team managing technical partner Adrian Newey. The bottling draws on a shared belief that performance is defined not only by what can be seen, but by “the invisible detail working beneath the surface.”

The 16-year-old expression is built through a maturation across five cask types. It combines first-fill bourbon barrels, port pipes, oloroso sherry casks, wine casks and a final touch of fino sherry butts. Bottled at 43% ABV, the whisky pairs Glenfiddich’s fruit-led style with layered sweetness, richness and structure.

“What I find most compelling about Adrian’s work is that the defining performance often comes from what you cannot immediately see,” said Kinsman. “Behind every Aston Martin Formula One Team car are hundreds of small decisions, carefully refined to create a seamless whole. The same is true in whisky making.”

Adrian Newey joined Aston Martin in 2025 following a shock departure from Red Bull. Newey’s engineering helped steer Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to four consecutive Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles. Now a shareholder at Aston Martin, Newey hopes to bring technical innovation to the team and allow them to compete at the top of the field.

Continuing his comments on the new expression, Brian Kinsman added: “For this expression, I combined the influence of five distinct cask types, each contributing its own character, texture and depth. The result is a truly unique Glenfiddich expression, vibrant with fruit, layered with warmth, and brought into perfect balance.”

According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers “rich stewed fruits with a beautiful array of floral top notes,” alongside “hints of marzipan and polished leather.” The palate is “mellow and silky smooth with a creamy, buttery toffee sweetness,” leading to a “long lasting oaky sweetness” on the finish.

The two brands first announced their multi-year partnership in November 2024.

Glenfiddich introduced single malt to the world beyond Scotland in 1961 and describes itself as the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky.

Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2 is available from selected UK retailers, including Selfridges and Master of Malt, priced at RRP $79.99.
