Glencadam Distillery has unveiled new brand packaging alongside the launch of a limited-edition 17 Year Old Réserve de Calvados expression. The packaging refresh follows the Scottish distillery’s 200th anniversary celebrations and the opening of its first visitor center in Brechin.

The redesigned packaging debuts across four expressions: Glencadam 10 Year Old, 15 Year Old, Reserva PX, and the new 17 Year Old Réserve de Calvados cask finish.

The remainder of Glencadam’s range will transition to the new look in the coming weeks.

Edinburgh-based artist Andrew Davidson, known for his Harry Potter book illustrations, created hand-drawn designs showing how the distillery appeared in 1825.

Each tube now features cask maturation details and tasting notes to assist consumer selection at the point of purchase.

The waterwheel motif, a Glencadam symbol since 1825, appears prominently across the brand identity, including embossed detailing around each bottle base.

“EST 1825” is embossed on bottle shoulders, while branded wooden corks and cask type references emphasize the production details of each whisky.

“This new packaging represents evolution, not reinvention,” said Iain Forteath, Glencadam’s Master Blender. “Our time-honored production methods, elegant house style and commitment to traditional craftsmanship remain unchanged. What has changed is how we tell our story, with a confident new look that celebrates both our heritage and the quality of the exceptional whisky we make.”

The new Glencadam 17 Year Old Réserve de Calvados, the launch of which coincides with the brand refresh, is limited to 6,360 individually numbered bottles.

The expression features single malts initially matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks before finishing in Calvados barrels from Normandy, France.

Bottled at 46% ABV, the whisky maintains natural color and is non-chill filtered.

“This is the first time we have released a whisky matured in Calvados casks and the flavors and complexities imparted by these special barriques are both unique and delicious,” Forteath added. “The elegant orchard fruit and sweet spice notes imparted from the Calvados are a wonderful complement to the signature fruitiness of Glencadam whisky.”

Official tasting notes from the brand describe aromas of baked apples, heather honey, and vanilla sponge cake with cocoa powder hints.

The palate delivers apple strudel, spiced fruits, and butterscotch alongside dark chocolate and candied orange.
