The GlenAllachie Distillers Company has unveiled a 13-year-old single malt whisky to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse for Lunar New Year 2026. The limited-edition expression marks the second installment in the independent Speyside distillery’s Lunar New Year series, matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry, and virgin oak casks.

Lunar New Year begins on 17 February 2026, ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse.

Master distiller Billy Walker personally selected each cask for the release, combining sherry-matured whiskies with high-charred Appalachian virgin oak.

The Pedro Ximénez casks contribute brown sugar, maraschino cherries, sultanas, and warming spices, including nutmeg and cinnamon. Oloroso sherry adds dark chocolate, mocha, dates, and figs.

Virgin oak provides butterscotch, vanilla, coconut, and subtle spice notes.

“Over the years I’ve taken many incredible trips across Asia, where I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many whisky lovers and GlenAllachie fans who share our passion,” said Walker.

“For the second installment of the Lunar New Year series, the team and I wanted to craft a whisky that captures both the spirit of festivity and the depth of The GlenAllachie’s character.”

The distillery collaborated with key Asian retailers who tasted the whisky before bottling and provided input on age, cask selection, and flavor profile. Their feedback shaped both the liquid and packaging design.

Scottish artist Kayley Barbour created hand-drawn illustrations for the limited-edition packaging, featuring a fiery-red palette with the horse’s mane and tail evoking flames. Each pack includes a horseshoe charm symbolizing good fortune.

The release follows The GlenAllachie’s Year of the Snake 2025 edition, an 11-year-old expression that also combined Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry and virgin oak maturation.

The Year of the Fire Horse edition will be available from November across Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong.

Pricing is set at approximately £78.99.

Limited bottles will be available at The GlenAllachie Distillery and online shop in January 2026.
