Diplomático has earned Gold Medal recognition for three of its signature rums — Reserva Exclusiva, Planas, and Ambassador — at the 2026 Bartender Spirits Awards in Chicago. All three expressions scored 91 points at the annual competition, which is judged by bartenders, bar managers, and beverage directors from across the United States.
The Bartender Spirits Awards provides independent evaluations of spirits for the U.S. on-premise market. The competition highlights products that perform in real-world bar and restaurant environments.
Each of the three Diplomático expressions was recognized for quality, balance, and drinkability.

"These results reflect the care, precision, and consistency that go into every step of our rum-making process, from distillation to blending and aging," Jones added.
Judges praised Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva for its rich complexity. Official tasting notes from the brand highlight candied honey, caramel, and black tea balanced by flavors of brûléed banana, toasted almonds, and ginger.

For Diplomático Ambassador, judges noted a refined profile. Official notes from the brand describe caramel and toffee alongside hints of orange rind, clean smoke, and a balanced finish.
The Venezuelan rum brand, known for its mastery of blending, positions itself as a super-premium player in the global rum category. Brown-Forman acquired a majority stake in Diplomático parent company Destilerías Unidas in 2022, adding the brand to a portfolio that includes Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, and Old Forester.
The triple Gold Medal haul reinforces Diplomático’s standing within the competitive U.S. on-premise landscape. The results arrive as the super-premium rum segment continues to grow, driven by consumer demand for aged and craft spirits in cocktail-forward bar programs.
