Copper & Kings has unveiled a redesigned core portfolio featuring three expressions that blend American brandy traditions with bourbon influences. The Louisville-based distillery introduced Six-Year Brandy V.S.O.P. ($19.99), Six-Year Apple Brandy Bottled in Bond ($24.99), and Straight Bourbon Whiskey ($29.99) alongside new packaging and brand identity.
The Six-Year Brandy V.S.O.P. combines French Colombard, Chenin Blanc, and Muscat grapes aged for six years and bottled at 86 proof.

Its apple counterpart adheres to Bottled-in-Bond Act standards, using 100% Michigan apples and bottled at 100 proof.
The Straight Bourbon Whiskey represents a category crossover, blending Kentucky straight bourbons aged between five and 17+ years.
These bourbons undergo additional finishing for up to three years in brandy barrels, creating what the company calls “something unmistakably Copper & Kings” at 93 proof.
The relaunch positions American brandy as what the distillery describes as a “serious, bourbon-adjacent category.”
This strategic shift comes as craft American brandy producers increasingly target whiskey drinkers seeking alternative brown spirits.
The U.S. brandy market has seen renewed interest from craft distillers in recent years, with producers emphasizing local fruit sourcing and innovative aging techniques.
Copper & Kings joins a growing movement of American brandy makers challenging traditional cognac and European brandy dominance.
The company’s approach mirrors broader industry trends where traditional category boundaries blur through experimental finishing and cross-category innovation.
“These releases are more than new bottles, they’re a statement of who we are,” said Rob Bourdon, Founder of Bourdon Spirits Company. “We didn’t set out to follow bourbon. We set out to reclaim America’s original spirit – brandy – and to do it with integrity, craftsmanship, and a sense of adventure that feels truly American.”
American brandy production has historically centered in California, though distillers in Kentucky, Michigan, and other states now contribute to category expansion.
The Bottled-in-Bond designation for the apple brandy signals adherence to strict federal standards requiring distillation in a single season, aging for at least four years, and bottling at exactly 100 proof.
Copper & Kings Distillery’s new expressions will be available at the distillery in Louisville, as well as selected retailers, soon to be announced.
