Blue Note Expands Honey Bourbon and Rye Whiskey Release

B.R. Distilling Co. has increased the allocation for its third annual Blue Note Honey Bourbon and Honey Rye Cask Whiskey releases. Both expressions are launching simultaneously, priced at $64.99 each, with online sales and distribution in select U.S. markets.

Announced on September 21, the Memphis-crafted whiskeys follow two annual releases that sold out quickly, according to the company. B.R. Distilling Co. said approximately 2,500 cases of the two expressions are available, but did not disclose the size of the previous allocations.

This year’s release also includes the first single-barrel offerings for both expressions. These will be available in limited quantities through select retailers, adding a separate retail offering alongside the main releases.

READ THE STORY

Blue Note finishes the bourbon and rye in American oak barrels previously seasoned with wildflower barrel-aged honey for six to nine months. That period refers to the honey seasoning of the casks, rather than the whiskey’s finishing time.

“Our third annual Honey Bourbon and Honey Rye Cask Whiskeys, which are crafted in Memphis, are a testament to the creativity and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle we produce,” said Chris Crosbie, chief executive officer of B.R. Distilling Co.

The Honey Bourbon has a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% wheat and 9% malted barley. It is bottled unfiltered at 58.9% ABV, or 117.8 proof.

Meanwhile, the Honey Rye uses 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is bottled unfiltered at 59.8% ABV, or 119.6 proof. Both expressions therefore sit above 58% ABV.

“Every sip strikes the perfect note between spice and sweetness—finished with soul,” Crosbie added.

Blue Note’s whiskey portfolio is distilled in partnership with Lofted Spirits, the parent company of Green River Distilling Company, and aged just north of downtown Memphis near the confluence of the Mississippi and Wolf rivers.

Founded in Memphis in 2014, B.R. Distilling Co. produces a Blue Note range that includes Juke Joint, Crossroads, Uncut and Straight Rye Whiskey. Its limited releases have included a 17-year-old whiskey, Single Barrel Reserve and, most recently, Cherry Cask Bourbon.
