Isle of Arran Distillers has unveiled its first official Arran Single Malt 30 Year Old, marking three decades since production began at Lochranza Distillery in 1995. The limited release of 300 bottles comes from an ex-Sherry hogshead selected by Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman, bottled at 46% ABV without added coloring or chill filtration.

The milestone whisky was distilled on September 12, 1995, and bottled on October 13, 2025.

“Releasing the first ever official Arran 30-Year-Old Single Malt is a moment of immense pride for everyone involved in our distillery’s journey,” said Euan Mitchell, Managing Director at Isle of Arran Distillers. “It marks not just the oldest whisky we’ve ever released, but a celebration of the people, place and perseverance that brought Arran whisky to life. It’s a testament to the dedication of our team over the last three decades, and to the enduring spirit of our island home.”

The expression features official tasting notes of burnt orange, star anise, and cinnamon on the nose, with toasted oak.

On the palate, honey, ripe orchard fruits, vanilla, and cloves emerge. The finish delivers toffee apple and orange zest.

Lochranza Distillery was founded by Harold Currie during a period of industry uncertainty when many Scottish distilleries were closing.

His vision restored whisky production to the Isle of Arran after more than 150 years of silence.

The distillery now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually and operates alongside its sister facility, Lagg Distillery in the south.

Earlier this year, on June 29, whisky enthusiasts gathered at Lochranza to commemorate the exact moment the spirit first flowed from the stills thirty years prior.

The company marked the anniversary by offering fans the opportunity to purchase one of thirty Palo Cortado Sherry casks filled with Arran spirit.

The Arran 30 Year Old comes packaged in dark natural wood with copper metal accents, reflecting the distillery’s copper stills.

Bottles are available for purchase at Lochranza Distillery and through the Arran Whisky online shop exclusively for White Stag Community members, which counts nearly 30,000 global members.

Looking ahead, Isle of Arran Distillers plans to refresh its core range in 2026, retiring the current 18 and 25-year-old expressions.

A permanent 30 Year Old Arran Single Malt will join the core range and launch in key markets worldwide during summer 2026.
