Comments:
All in all, I feel like this particular blend feels like an average blended whiskey. It’s not terrible, but there is not a strong flavor. It may be a good starting point for someone looking to try getting into bourbon, and I’m sure if you are a Broncos fan, the price point is low enough for a special edition that it would definitely be worth it. rnrnYou could try this on the rocks, but I would suggest using it as a mixer for some of the cocktails that Breckenridge suggests on their website.

Breckenridge Distillery and the Denver Broncos recently teamed up to create two special edition whiskeys. These special editions are just known as the Orange and Blue editions. This year’s team whiskeys are led by former Broncos receiver Ed McCaffery, and former Broncos linebacker Alfred Williams.

Breckenridge Distillery was founded in 2008, by former physician Bryan Nolt. Nolt took his love of whiskey and art and blended them together to create Breckenridge. As a physician, Nolt began thinking about what kind of things make one happier, and enrich their lives. He felt that whiskey (in moderation of course) and art were both things that could help.

Rather than just collecting art to display at the distillery, Nolt has employed local artists to create new and unique pieces within the distillery. In Nolt’s own words, “I like graffiti and supporting local artists. I’ve always had a few pieces here and there, but after we expanded I started bringing artists here to paint the walls, so now we have whole walls that are graffitied up.”

In 2021, Breckenridge teamed up with the Denver Broncos, to become the official bourbon of the Broncos. In 2023, they also became the official vodka of the Broncos. In 2021 they did their first Orange and Blue competition with the Champions blends, with teams headed by former Broncos Jake Plummer and Reggie Rivers. In 2022, with the Mile High Blends, one team was led once again by Jake Plummer, and the other by Karl Mecklenburg.

And, in 2023, they have now done the Back-to-Back blends, with team leaders McCaffery and Williams.

McCaffery and Breckenridge founder Nolt teamed up for this year’s Orange blend, while Williams and Breckenridge head distiller Hans Stafsholt have created the Blue blend. These Back-to-Back blends are in honor of the Broncos Super Bowl wins in 1997 and 1998.
