Tasting Notes

About:

ABV: 48% VOLUME: 700ml Mashbill: 75% Corn 21% Rye 4% Malted Barley Only 159 Bottles came from this 6 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon by the Green River Distillery.

Appearance:
Yellowish caramel
Nose:
Sweet, candy, caramel, hint of banana.
Palate:
Nice and warm on the tongue, not hot. Flavor takes a while to develop. There’s a dark richness at the start, but this fades quickly into sweet but spicy profile. The rye in this high-rye mashbill is present, but the corny sweetness challenges it.
Finish:
Long, and leaves your tongue with a long slow memory of sweetness.
Comments:
Maltyverse is looking to produce as much a story as a liquid – seems as if their focus is branding and finding a home for abandoned barrels in the historic Green River Distillery in Owensburg, Kentucky which opened in 1885, then closed and was reopened in 2016. Perhaps they feel that some of the barrels don’t have the flavor to stand on their own, so they create a kitschy comic book story line for each offering, even referring to them as “scenes” This bottle is pretty good.
