The Willett Pot Still Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon is presented in a beautiful decanter, but how does the bourbon hold up?

Tasting Notes

About:

Distilled, aged in new white oak barrels, and bottled at the Willett Distillery in Bardstown KY.
Appearance:
Beautiful rich orange hue, strikingly clear.
Nose:
Strong spiritous vapor, with wood and maple beneath.
Palate:

Immediate rye spice on the tongue; not sweet, strong oak. There’s a hint of cayenne, floating on a neutral corn flavor heavily wood-influenced

Finish:
Long, growing stronger and warmer on the tongue as it slowly fades.
Comments:
Intriguingly beautiful and unique bottle shape, suggesting an old pot still. While striking, and bearing the historic Willett name, not a notable result. Also, the bottle shape is the closest this liquid has come to a real pot still. Reasonably priced, and pretty enough to gift, but ordinary in the mouth
