Tasting Notes

About:

Built from a history of filling casks at Hogmany for future ageing. This parcel of single malts, blended together, is a selection of American and European oak that provides this rather dominant taste with a very attractive nose.
Appearance:
Dark Gold
Nose:
Apricot and lemon marmalade, sherry syrup, a touch of old sulphur, treacle tart, cocoa powder, raisins and sultanas.
Palate:
Loads of sherry and rich European oak flavour profiles. It’s got a lot of rolling tobacco, more subtle sulphur notes, burnt ends, dried chillies, sage, blue cheese, super dark chocolate, chocolate syrup, booze soaked raisins, old woody Cognac, spiced oranges, baked plums, and soft, rolling spices.
Finish:
A huge finish! It feels like it never leaves your taste buds. Loads of savoury cooking spices, buckets of sherry, sage, dark cocoa powder, cigar smoke, poached pears, tannic red wine, black peppercorns, lemon zest, walnuts, maple syrup and dark honey sweetness.
Comments:
A bottle with quite a wonderful and playful history that delivers on some very large flavour profiles, not necessarily flavour profiles that are typical for an older blended malt. It’s a powerful, potent, dominant, chewy, oily style of whisky that is for someone looking for a real challenge for their money.
