Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey recently unveiled its new the “Distiller’s Experimental Series” with its first expression, Stranahan’s Bushmills Cask.
According to Stranahan officials, this new single malt is meant to blend the brand’s innovative nature with Irish whiskey craft.
Bushmills Cask is an American single malt whiskey distilled in small batches and aged a minimum of four years in new American oak barrels with a No. 3 char. Upon completing the aging process, the liquid is transferred to former Bushmills whiskey casks, where it ages for at least another year. The resulting whiskey features a complex flavor profile, as the Irish whiskey casks are said to impart notes of butterscotch, cereal sweetness and well-oiled leather.
The Distiller’s Experimental Series features a group of American single malts that are meant to demonstrate the distillery’s ongoing dedication to innovating the American single malt category through unique finishing techniques.
For now, Stranahan’s Bushmills Cask is only available at the Denver, Colorado distillery. It’s bottled at 94 proof and sells for a $69.99 suggested retail price. You’ll find some official tasting notes below.
