Canadian Distillery Bottles Up Young Organic Single Malt Whisky

The Pemberton Distillery, set in the beautiful Coast Mountains in British Columbia, Canada, is known for organic spirits, much like Los Angeles-based Greenbar. One of its most highly sought after releases is its young single malt whisky, which comes out in a tiny batch each year and tends to quickly sell out. A single cask is what’s been made available for 2014, pricing around CAD$90 (S80).

The 2014 Pemberton Valley Single Malt Whisky, according to the distillery, is a three year old expression matured in full sized ex-bourbon barrels. It was made from 100 percent locally grown and malted organic barley and given a touch of peated malt to spice things up a bit.

This single cask release, which can be purchased directly from the distillery if you live in Canada, has no coloring added and is non-chill filtered. Tasting notes per Pemberton are below.

Nose: Dried Tea, Pears, Malt
