Canadian Distillery Bottles Up Young Organic Single Malt Whisky

pemberton-2011The Pemberton Distillery, set in the beautiful Coast Mountains in British Columbia, Canada, is known for organic spirits, much like Los Angeles-based Greenbar. One of its most highly sought after releases is its young single malt whisky, which comes out in a tiny batch each year and tends to quickly sell out. A single cask is what’s been made available for 2014, pricing around CAD$90 (S80).

The 2014 Pemberton Valley Single Malt Whisky, according to the distillery, is a three year old expression matured in full sized ex-bourbon barrels. It was made from 100 percent locally grown and malted organic barley and given a touch of peated malt to spice things up a bit.

This single cask release, which can be purchased directly from the distillery if you live in Canada, has no coloring added and is non-chill filtered. Tasting notes per Pemberton are below.

Nose: Dried Tea, Pears, Malt
Palate: Rich, Vanilla Oak, Dry Cereals, Gentle Smoke
Finish: Long, Cinnamon, Lingering Spice, Honey
