Tasting Notes

About:

Godawan Series 01 single malt release from India. Matured in the deserts of Rajasthan in Pedro Pedro Ximénez sherry casks before being finished in second-fill ex-bourbon barrels treated with Indian botanicals.

Appearance:
Light Sherry
Nose:
Madeira cake, orange wine, Barbados rum, cardamom and white chocolate.

Beautifully fragrant and sweet. The orange notes really set off these incredible smell of chai and bourbon casks. Very comforting.
Palate:
Gentle and very approachable start to the palate.

This reminds me of some great quality lowland whiskies. There’s light taste of straw, gentle bourbon oak, more chai, a touch of sage and more cardamom.

It’s easy going but not overly sweet. The balance of sweet, gentle spice and a touch of youthfulness at the end of the palate. It’s really well put together.
Finish:
Malty biscuits, barley grist, the final backdraft of flavour is all of those caramelised bourbon cask flavours of pecans, maple, bourbon coffee, a touch autumnal too with a cinnamon spice note, too.
Comments:
I really enjoyed this!

It’s unsuspecting and fairly layered with flavour that really suits this time of year (October).

I’d easily buy a bottle.
