Consider yourself an Anglophile? Here’s a piece of news for you: The English Whisky Co. has released a special limited-edition blend to commemorate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
Presented in a hand-engraved decanter adorned with a profile of the Queen superimposed over the Union Jack and packaged in a red and white Union Jack canister, the design is enough to inspire even the most red-blooded Yankee to hum a few bars from God Save the Queen.
Little information is available about the contents of the bottle. In a statement, The English Whisky Co. only says “David Fitt our master distiller has vatted together whisky from a selection of casks to create a unique and beautiful whisky that is worthy of the occasion.” No official tasting notes have been released.

The English Whisky Co. has built a strong reputation on the quality of its limited-edition releases, including their critically acclaimed Founders Private Cellar series. This release joins a number of expressions launched to commemorate major events for the royal family, including the marriage of Prince William and Kate, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation, the birth of Prince George, and the birth of Princess Charlotte.
Just 480 bottles of the 90th birthday expression were released worldwide for a suggested retail price of 75£, available through the English Whisky Co. website and select retail channels. If you’re looking to lay your hands on a bottle, expect to go through secondary retail channels, because as of this writing the English Whisky Co. lists the expression as Out of Stock.
